Red Day Feb 13th Roundup!
Written by Tonaci Tran
Sunday, 14 February 2010 01:12

Unfortunately I am in Vietnam so could not make it out to Red Day =(. However, thanks to some cool Redusers who did make it out to Red Day (to name a few Roberto Lequeux, Dan Graetz and Brad Web) we have the following pics and info below from the main Feb 13th Reduser Day thread.

Several bullet points of interest (links just take you directly to the reduser post):
- Tattoo pool was originally going to be around 100 but now will be approximately 20 units due to production costs.
- Stage 2 expected to kick in approximately 2 months after Tattoo beta testing
- EDL support in Redcine X
- R3d trimming capability coming in the future
- support for the Euphonix MC Color will be out soon (been wondering about this!)
- Epic and Scarlet hopefully coming out summer (Jim reported that he would not be pleased if not out by then)
- Video displayed during show was via red ray at 15 mb/s. reportedly amazing.

- Red Mattebox to get swing away option.
- "ASA" sits comfortably at 800 ASA... but depending on the shooting situation might yield a better quality at different settings.
- Can create a look in the new redcine x/rocketcine x and transfer it to the R1 via SD card

The Arctic X Shield - Electronic EVF heater for the RED Camera

The Arctic X Shield, an electronic EVF heater for the RED Camera, begins shipping next week.
"There are a lot of features in this thing, and we'll add cool stuff as we go along, but we're finally ready to roll this out.

We expect this should help in the following:

  • Allows the EVF to work in below freezing temps (base model) or sub zero temps (endurance model)
  • It's light weight and complete coverage serve as additional protection for the EVF from bumps and hits
  • It should help increase the EVFs resale value when it comes time to upgrade to the Bomb EVF"

Tuesday, 08 December 2009 09:24

MVQUICK is a hot swap system to be installed as a battery interface between the camera (or any other V-lock compatible device) and the battery pack. The main purpose is to allow camera battery replacement without any power interruption through an automatic detection of the battery removal. Additionally, MVQUICK provides an alternative power source of about 21Wh to be used as UPS in case of a sudden power failure or extended power requirements.

MVQUICK is designed to work perfectly even with RED® ONE cameras.
