I love the Redrock Mattebox. I used it on three feature films so far and it is a good workhouse. One thing, however, I am not very fond of are the rubber donuts. There is a solution, although the solution costs a bit more than the Redrock Mattebox itself, which is to use the Arri bellows from the MB-20. Not only does this add a more user friendly bellows but it also adds 138mm filter support. I haven't done this but fellow Reduser, Damien Molineaux, kindly posted pics of his setup.

A cool "DIY" option made by Philipp Friesenbichler. This is available for purchase through his ebay store.

Reduser #1542, Dexter Gregoire, made a DIY Handheld solution for the Red using the following off the shelf parts: 1 Bicycle handle bar (I bought the Cruiser model) @ $16.99. 2 Stems (I bought the Devinci model) @ $16.99 Each. 2 Shims to properly mount the stems @ $2.99 Each. 1 Pair of rubber grips (To hold on to) @ $9.99. A little bit of help from the salesman to make sure everything is stable $FREE. Read about his project over at REDUSER HERE. |
